The QuadGuard is our latest innovation in quad safety for rollover protection.

It is a new concept CPD (crush protection device), and a new option to add to our revolutionary range. The QuadGuard is a flexible plastic arc-shape safety device, designed to give farmers a better chance of survival from a quad accident.

The QuadGuard is a simple one-piece design and helps provide space under an upturned quad. It weighs 7.2kg and is supplied with a fitting kit so it’s right ready to attach to your quad bike. A key feature of the QuadGuard is that it is flexible, which gives it the ability to soak up impact and flex around the rider in the event of a rollover.

Even if the QuadGuard does not come in contact with the rider in the event of a roll over, it will provide space under the quad, while also spreading the weight and making it quite possible to push the bike off you.

The QuadGuard currently has a 5-year lifespan. If you’re unsure of the age of one, please check the serial number here

HOW THE QUADGUARD WORKS

The QuadGuard is a simple one-piece design and helps provide space under an upturned quad. It is unique in the fact that it is flexible and has the ability to deform or deflect when it comes in contact with a person’s body or limbs. It is not as flexible as the other CPD we manufacture (the LifeGuard), but the QuadGuard has been designed with enough flexibility in it to minimise injury from the CPD itself if coming in contact with the rider, while still being strong enough to hold the back of the quad up off the ground sufficiently to help prevent the rider from being crushed underneath.

Even if the QuadGuard does not come in contact with the rider in the event of a roll over, it will provide space under the quad, while also spreading the weight and making it quite possible to push the bike off you.  The danger of a conventional roll bar fitted to a quad, is the possibility of the roll bar striking the rider on the ground, inflicting injury, or death. Most, if not all, other roll bars are rigid, and although strong and can give crush protection, are rather unforgiving if they strike the rider.

WHAT IS THE QUADGUARD MADE FROM?

The QuadGuard is made from a grade of polyethylene plastic and is rotational moulded. The polyethylene used offers excellent ESCR, impact strength, and contains a long term UV8 stabilisation package. Currently the QuadGuard has a 5-year lifespan, and testing is ongoing to analyse if this needs to change.

The final mould design and grade of plastic that is now used came after months of trial and error. Various plastics and moulds were trialled, and after making a lot of prototypes that were turned into scrap, the QuadGuard became a reality. Now with the final design sorted, after the moulding process is completed, it requires some finishing touches before being boxed up and dispatched to our customers.

HOW IS THE QUADGUARD MOUNTED TO THE QUAD?

The QuadGuard simply clamps to the rear carrier of your quad, fitting most makes and models. Severe roll over testing has proved that this method is highly effective as the flexible character of the QuadGuard soaks up the impact, and the carrier can easily sustain the forces required.

The mounting brackets consist of two flat bars that can be swivelled at any angle, with hooks that rotate 360° to any position. They simply clamp over the base of the QuadGuard and once the hooks are positioned, tightened with a torque wrench to 7 newton metres maximum – this is important, as over-tightening could damage your carrier, and/or the hooks and the QuadGuard itself.

The QuadGuard fits most ATV models, but is not recommended for plastic carriers.

LOOKING AFTER THE QUADGUARD

There is little to go wrong with the QuadGuard and it should give many years of service.

Regularly check that the four mounting hooks and bolts are secure. Keep your QuadGuard clean and remove any build-up of mud etc. to help avoid extra unnecessary weight being added to the quad. Check the neoprene cover and replace if damaged.
